this wheel-thrown tumbler is made of dark stoneware clay that’s stretched with sodium silicate, creating soft exterior crackling that’s brushed with black iron oxide and gently polished to highlight the texture. the interior and top portion of the exterior are glazed in a soft satin white. subtle throwing rings show the clay’s upward pull from puck to vessel — one of my favorite details in a functional form. the raw clay at the base opens into a softly curved lower body that tapers to a small, trimmed foot—light in appearance, but steady and flat where it meets the table.
