this wheel-thrown dish is made of light, high-fire stoneware clay. it’s glazed in a soft gray-blue with an overlapping sweep of ivory, and both glazes bring out delicate speckling that brightens the whole piece. the transition between the darker blue and the pale ivory creates a beautiful mid-tone band — a quiet, moody in-between color that feels especially lovely on this form. the shape rests on four small feet, giving it a little lift and making it easy to pick up and move around.

this is one of my favorite color pairings — calm, subtle, and quietly elegant. since this version has no cutouts, it’s great for food items as well: small snacks, tea bags, cookies, a handful of berries, or anything that’s happier with a tiny, pleasing showcase of its own.
