this wheel-thrown mug is made of high-fire porcelain/stoneware mixed clay. the entire mug is glazed in moondance blue, with the rim dipped again in ivory so the two colors overlap and melt into each other. i’m always a fan of visible throw lines — the permanent record of the clay being pulled from puck to cylinder — and here they show beautifully through the glaze. the ivory adds soft white speckling that pairs perfectly with the pale glacial blues and deeper sea-toned shadows.
the handle has a comfortable, gently rounded shape that offers an easy, steady grip for a variety of hand sizes, especially with the ridged texture adding a touch of extra stability.
