this wheel-thrown mug is gorgeousness that you can hold. it’s made from a high-fire porcelain/stoneware blend; the interior and rim are glazed in a soft, buttery yellow, and the exterior… well, it’s absolutely having a party — layers of warm, shifting color that move from pale clay to ochre, pink, and rich brown.

the texture comes from added slip (that silky clay-and-water mixture), brushed into gentle waves you can feel with your fingertips — a small moment of tactility for anyone who enjoys a little extra touch guidance while holding their mug. the whole piece was soda fired, meaning ash and baking soda (yes, truly) were introduced during the firing, creating those gorgeous glossy gray ribbons and letting the bare clay shine through in unpredictable, beautiful ways depending on its place in the kiln.

the handle includes a small thumb rest for easy, comfortable gripping, making it feel natural in the hand during daily use. the shape opens into a generous base, then tapers to a subtle foot that keeps the piece balanced without adding weight.
