this wheel-thrown mug is made of high-fire dark stoneware clay. the interior is glazed in bright white and the rim and exterior are glazed in ivory—a glaze that’s never just one color. pale cream softens into satin ochre, then lifts into greens and soft blues, especially where it moves over the throw lines along the exterior wall. the raw clay at the base opens into a softly curved lower body that tapers to a small, trimmed foot—light in appearance, but steady and flat where it meets the table—bringing warm, earthy contrast.

now for the thoughtful part: this mug’s design grew from feedback gathered at markets. to make it more accessible for folks with larger hands or anyone with grip, strength, or dexterity challenges, the wall beneath the handle is gently indented inward. this creates extra knuckle room and encourages a steadier, more comfortable hold.
