this wheel-thrown mug is made of high-fire porcelain/stoneware mixed clay. the mug exterior and interior is glazed in moss green with a rim dip in creator favorite rutile blue. due to the whim of the kiln gods, the rutile blue shows up in shocking bright blue and shares the spotlight with the moss until about a third of the way down the mug. there, the straight walls and gravity help rutile take center stage with a little bit of purple speckling behind the handle. one of a kind!
let’s talk about this unique design! originating from feedback received at markets, some mugs have been adjusted to be more accessible for people with large hands, strength or dexterity issues. underneath the handle, the clay wall is indented inward slightly, giving extra room for the knuckles, providing a more comfortable and steadying grip.
