fun with shapes!
this wheel-thrown mug is made of dark stoneware clay. getting a bit experimental here, this mug’s shape was altered with a rib at an angle, cutting out clay in an upwards motion. once fired, the mug was stained with black iron oxide and glazed in bright white. the handle bears a thumb rest and where it and handle meet, a hole was bored that can be seen through. the effect is textural and earthy while capturing movement of a moment.
