line ‘em up!
this wheel-thrown mug is made of high-fire porcelain/stoneware mixed clay. the mug interior is glazed in bright white and the exterior is glazed with an angled overlapping dip in gray-blue with an accenting line of iron oxide above the blue. i’m always a fan for throw lines (the story of clay being brought up from a puck to a cylinder) which is visible through the glazes, touched with a heart shaped melty-bit of glaze in the front
let’s talk about this unique design! originating from feedback received at markets, some mugs have been adjusted to be more accessible for people with large hands, strength or dexterity issues. underneath the handle, the clay wall is indented inward slightly, giving extra room for the knuckles, providing a more comfortable and steadying grip. the lines on the exterior create gentle texture on the outside allowing for a more secure grip than that of a smooth wall.
