simple beauty!

this wheel-thrown bowl is made of white stoneware clay and is glazed in pale celadon. it features a chattered exterior where the glaze is removed, revealing bare clay and giving faint texture to the form. speckling throughout is due to iron in the clay and enhances the earthiness of the piece. this is a great bowl for roasted vegetables or pasta. what i love about this bowl, in addition to the texture and gentle curving of the walls is how the base just disappears, giving the bowl a floating appearance.
